[Blue eyes narrow in a fatigued annoyance.

What, did he really want them to scale the wall with his hair?

When they could just as easily walk up the stairs, pick him up, and drag him back down?

Not that this wasn't already a crazy situation, but... why with the hair?

Urgh.]

Last I checked, Your Majesty, your father wasn't anywhere around. How is he supposed to climb it when it isn't even in reach, anyways?

[His hand moves to rest in his hair, fingers clenching and expression tight.]

I... Luke and I, we... we'd just left the apartment... going to the Battle Dome...

I ran ahead...

And..

He... fell?

Knees hitting the ground, a finger wrapped against his

arm

His face slowly pales, fingers clenching harder into his hair as his eyes widen.

Anger anger anger and the pulling of weapons, the clashing of metal.

The rush of adrenaline.

The catch of sword on flesh.

Knocking a blade away.

Not away - through...

a feeling of finality - of triumph, of wrath having its way

the flash of black

the spattering of blood

a shower of feathers

the force of a blade

cutting

bone

screaming

SCREAMING

The scent of blood suddenly becomes so very strong, so evident and pronounced.

He's trembling.

[His voice is quiet and shaking.]

[Guy manages a sullen chuckle, glancing down at the boy in his hold.]

...That's okay. We're not really from around here.

So I guess we're just... new. Not lost.

[Oh come on, five feet and four inches is totally not short. Hff.

Not like Guy could have said anything about that at the time being He'd been a lot more distracted than he realized. Because to look up and see a woman that close was enough to make the teen's face instantly pale.

He scrambles backwards a few steps with a rather indignant squawk, arms flung up in front of him and voice cracking as he speaks.]

I-I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry...!

[Ion doesn't know what to do. This was different from last time, when Guy had only attacked Luke... but this time the outcome was so much worse. And the only thing Ion could do was sit and watch as Guy remembers, whether that be in pieces or entirety. He keeps his hand in his lap, his eyes fixed on Guy's face. He's never seen Guy like this before -- so unsure, so scared -- and it only serves to make this whol situation feel even more unreal than it already did.]

[When Guy finally speaks, Ion's reply is immediate.]

Luke is fine.

[He doesn't know that. He doesn't know what became of Luke at all. He was gone by the time Ion had arrived. But he needs to believe it. He needs to believe Luke is all right, that the healers got to him in time, that he's just resting in the clinic and sleeping off his pain... he needs to believe it so strongly, when he says it, he very nearly convinces himself that it's the truth. And that's likely the only thing holding him together right now, outside of his immediate concern for Guy.]

[But his face doesn't look happy. Because that sentence isn't over yet. Perhaps it's just the events of the day wearing him down, but he's not in a position to soften the blow about the truth of what happened.]

[He can't look Guy in the eyes when he continues, staring instead down at his lap.]

...but Asch is dead.

She's doing better now. She has been well enough to move around the house as long as she's sure to rest if she gets tired.

[It's a long way to come from being unable to sit up.]

No one told you she is worried, either, I take it?

[It is when she can meet him eye-to-eye without having to look up! But she's helping to give him his space anyway, taking a few steps back herself and was about to offer her apologies.

Until his voice cracked, that is. That was not quite the voice she had come to know from Luke's best friend, even if he looked so much like him. His voice may raise a few octaves if she got close, but it didn't crack.] No need, but... Are you... Guy...?

....A while?

[It can't have been more than half an hour, anyway, he'd have lost interest by then.]

[He shakes his head. Keeping his journal off for the last couple days had kept him pretty much in the dark, and he wasn't really seeing that many visitors.]

I hope she's keeping her own health her priority for the moment, regardless of what happened. Knowing her, she wants to be here, doing something rather than sitting back and watching.

Still, it doesn't surprise me. [Childhood friends and all that - he'd be a little concerned if Natalia wasn't worried.]

Is she still not able to talk?

[Luke is fine.

The blonde shuts his eyes and forces himself to relax again, keeping silent to Ion's statement. Luke was alive, and that itself was a small comfort right now. But Asch...

He... killed Asch.

To assume that healers would have reached them both in time was a bit ridiculous, wasn't it? And with the way Asch had been injured... Guy wasn't sure that even the best of healers could have revived him in time.

The silence is thick for another long moment before Guy finally speaks again, his voice just a little stronger than before.]

I assume the curse slot's been removed, then.

[If Ion was here, that was probably the case... although, hadn't he been sick? He glances over - Ion looked a little better than the last time he and Guy had spoken, but he still seemed so frail.

Whether that was because of the fonic arte he just used or something else entirely wasn't about to be questioned.]

You feeling alright?

No, she can't, although she tries. No one living with us is allowing her to do too much at one time, at least.

She really is stubborn, isn't she...? [Sigh. Oh Natalia.] She needs to give herself some time or she might just make it worse.

I'm sure you guys are taking excellent care of her, though.

[Hm?

He lowers his arms slightly, peering at her over the top of his hands.]

Yes-- [Aaaand crack, okay god that was embarrassing. Clearing his throat now to try and get rid of that - his voice was supposed to be lowering gradually, not screeching back up like that...] --yes, ma'am. I'm sorry, I... I don't think I've met you...

Just because you were curious? That's not really safe.

[Geez, you small kids and your senses of curiosity...]

[Maybe it was a horrible, ugly, battered mistake of a friendship. Maybe Luke did need a better excuse for a friend.

But the fact remained that Guy was still Luke's best friend. They've been through so many trials together, and they came out of it stronger than ever. Why should this be any different? Sure, it hurt. It hurt so much, and Luke is sure that he hadn't felt that low in a while. Maybe if Asch hadn't taken over his mind after he destroyed Akzeriuth, then he'd be the way he was too. Perhaps for much longer.

But here they are. Still holding on to this friendship, having been through the ultimate test. Maybe they feel like they don't deserve each other at the moment. But here they are.

The smile on Luke's face becomes more genuine, though it's still weak. He leans his head up a bit to nudge against Guy's, a simple, affectionate little gesture, and the arm around Guy strengthens now that he's returning the hold.

He's here. And he's not going anywhere, no matter what this place may throw at them.]

Thanks... Good to be home.

[Luceti's seemed like a pretty safe place so far, and it's not like you look menacing.]

Well, I'm a stranger. You don't always know what a stranger might do. It's not really smart to just follow them.

[Not like he would hurt you or anything. But still!]

Oh, okay, um. Hi, I'm Florian! What's your name?

[ She doesn't know what to say. Things had been better for just a few moments...

But now Luke's death looms close and large, hanging over her like an axe suspended by the barest of threads, and she wants to vomit. One of her hands comes up to press over her mouth. It's her right hand. The hand with the ring. Seconds later she seems to realize - remember - feel the ring against her lips - and jerks her hand away like she's been burned, curling it into a fist and ducking her head.

Abruptly she gets to her feet. She can't even look at Luke. She's glad he's so small. Maybe he won't remember. ]

I ... I have to go.

[ She leaves without another word, shutting her eyes as, finally, a few tears roll down her face. But Guy won't see them. A few steps bring her into a waiting darkness corridor, and after she strides into it, the darkness disappears as if it had never been. ]

[ ... giggles. She presses a hand over her mouth, hoping Luke won't notice, but she can't help it. ]

What's not going to work? Why is it so important we use your hair, anyway?

[He just glares at Guy, before he glances at Xion. He'd rather not deal with someone who's making fun of him. B(]

You should know by now! You people've got to climb my hair and rescue me! [He takes a glance back at the stairs.] I sure would like to save myself, but it won't work like that!

Giving that impressive display of hair another look-over. It's still a good ten feet up.... they'd have to climb for it...

God, what a headache.]

I'm guessing just carrying you down is out of the question as well?

[If he had to throw your lazy ass over his shoulder to get you down, then so be it.]

She whispers, though, to Guy: ]

I think we might really have to do it.
